Question by Angelic_love: Pain/Pressure in the back and top of the eye with a headache?
This morning, right after my dad kindly woke me up at 7am, I’ve started getting these weird pains in the back or on the top of my eye. This started to cause a headache when I awoke and now whenever I look down it fires up again. The light irritated it as well. I can still move my eyes just fine and my last optical appointment was in late april. I’m still under the age of 18 so I don’t know if I can rule out some of those illnesses and diseases. My whole family is allergic to pollen and so my doctor also prescribed me these eye drops that work to alleviate the symptoms of pollen in my eyes. Could what I have be asociated with pollen?

Learn to relieve tension in your neck, shoulders & back muscles with this simple yoga technique. This is a great stretching exercise to do after a trapezius workout, after a long bike ride, or during a long period of sitting at a desk in front of a computer. The trapezius is the large stingray shaped muscle between your shoulder blades.Trigger points in the trapezius can lead to headaches and all kinds of neck pain and back pain. Jill shows us how to squeeze the shoulder blades together in sequence to free up the blood flow in the back muscles. This video is from the Quickfix Rx DVD available at www.yogatuneup.com

Question by : I have had a headache in the back of my head for about a week. Aall the symptoms point to a tension headache?
I have had a headache in the back of my head for about a week. It goes from the back of the head around the whole head and feels like a tight band around my head. It is continuous. It feels like a tension headache but can they last this long? I don’t feel tense.

Any response will be greatly appreciated.

Best answer:

Answer by Douglas B
You have tight neck muscles causing that pain. The neck muscles go to the top of your head so any pain in the back of your head is from them. When tight the muscles pull on other muscles that go around the head. When they go into pain you have your headache. To get rid of the pains you have to free up your neck muscles and here’s how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
