Article by Daniel Day

There are various types of headaches. However, it is tension headache that is the most common of them all. People suffering from tension headache experience pain on both sides of the head simultaneously. The feeling of a band being tied around the head is also common with tension headache. In most cases, a tension headache starts and gradually increases. The pain can last for one whole day with the intensity of the pain varying. Tension headaches account for 90% of all headaches. Near about 30% of the populace suffers from tension headache. The chances of tension headache are double in women as compared to men.

Tension headaches are classified as either episodic or protracted. If a tension headache occurs for smaller that 15 days a month, you can term it as episodic. Chronic strain headaches occur for over 15 days in a month steadily for over 6 months. In one stretch, a typical strain headache lasts for about four to 6 hours.

There are numerous causes of a tension headache. Some of them are given below. – Examination stress- Hectic schedules- Depression- Insufficient amount of sleep or rest- Uncomfortable work environment- Irregular eating habits- Grinding of teeth

There are a variety of medicines available to treat tension headaches which include certain non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as the first line of treatment. Ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, indomethacin and ketorolac are all examples of such drugs. Medicine combinations are also prescribed in some cases which combine aspirin, acetaminophen and caffeine. Also, you can use triptans such as sumatriptans, zolmitriptan, almotriptan eletriptan to reduce the headache.

Tension headache can also be forestalled by tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline and nortriptyline that are useful against both classifications of headaches. Anticonvulsants like topiramate and gabapentin with muscle relaxants like tizanidine may also be used to thwart tension headaches.

If you would rather not pop pills, there are several non medical strategies to try in order to forestall strain headaches. Relaxation is one such method and implementing the right techniques related to can go a long way in curing the symptoms. Relaxation practices include deep breathing, loosening up the muscles, mental imagery relaxation and music relaxation.

You can also have cognitive therapy ( an adaptation of psychotherapy ) to help treat stress headaches. It helps you determine the frequency and length of strain headaches. The cognitive care also teaches you to recognize negative thoughts and reactions to eventualities that lead to stress. Additionally, it trains you on how to respond in strategies that produce less stress. This technique works very well for teenagers.

So, whether you select the medical or the non medical approach, a tension headache can be handled successfully and utterly with a small amount of patience.

Article by Dr. Mital John

Patients who are at an advanced stage of this disorder may have headaches and their vision may be blurred as well. Advanced levels of hypertension can also cause kidney failure, and this is one of the most serious symptoms. When a patient is suffering from renal failure, the term accelerated hypertension will often be used.

Every minute the blood pressure changes, largely depending on whether you are in an active or resting mode. The body temperature, medications and other things such as the stature and emotion play a part. High blood pressure is not something that will just disappear without proper treatment and should be taken seriously; otherwise it may just be a ticking time bomb! Take good care of your body, physically, emotionally and spiritually!

High Blood Pressure, also called Hypertension, can be very dangerous because there may be little or no symptoms at all in the beginning, which can be a serious concern as it can result in long term complications. Blood pressure should be checked regularly. Anything above 140/90 is considered to be high blood pressure and could lead to heart disease. Read useful http://www.herbalcureindia.com/high-blood-pressure.htm

High blood pressure can cause irreversible damage to the heart and arteries. It gradually damages blood vessels within the body, and proof can be seen in the retina of the eye. During an eye exam, an ophthalmologist can see even the slightest damage done to vessels within the eye.

High blood pressure symptoms, while undetectable to the naked eye, can show as swollen blood vessels at the base of the optic nerve. Noticing such damage may be the first clue to many patients that they are suffering from this silent disease.

High Blood Pressure Symptoms: -

* Lightheadedness* Fast Heart Rate* Increase in Blood Pressure* Fluttering Heart* General Weakness* Cannot Sustain an Erection* Headache* Impotence* Chest Pain* Confusion* Fatigue

Is there any treatment for high blood pressure or any proven high blood pressure remedy? Garlic has, in a number of trials, proved to be an effective remedy to ease high blood pressure symptoms. However, garlic tends to thin the blood and must be taken only for high blood pressure symptoms after consulting a qualified physician. Fish oil has also been touted as a high blood pressure treatment and studies indicate that it is probably the docohexaenoic acid, or DHA, content that stabilizes blood pressure.

Home Remedies for High Blood Pressure: -

* Juice of fresh Indian gooseberry (amla) mixed with honey should be taken every morning.* For immediate relief drink a solution of 100 gms of water and half lemon for every two hours.* For a month, in an empty stomach take fresh papaya daily.* In 2-4 teaspoonful of water take 4 basil (tulsi) leaves and two neem leaves for 6-8 days in an empty stomach.* Milk with amla is also very helpful in reducing the high blood pressure.* Guggul a natural plant extract reduces the triglycerides by 22-30% and blood cholesterol by 14-27%. It is also very effective.

What is a Tension Headache: Tension Headaches are the most common type of headaches. Nearly everyone will have at least one tension headache in their lifetime.

What is a Migraine Headache: Migraine headaches are a form of headache, usually very intense and disabling. It is a neurologic disease of neuronal origin. The word “migraine” comes from the Greek word ‘hemikranion’ which means (pain affecting one side of the head).

What causes Tension Headache: The exact cause of tension headaches is still unknown. It has long been believed that they are caused by muscle tension around the head and neck. However although muscle tension may be involved, there are many forms of tension headaches and some scientists now believe there is not one single cause for this type of headache. One of the theories is that the pain may be caused by a malfunctioning pain filter which is located in the brain stem. The view is that the brain misinterprets information, for example from the temporal muscle or other muscles, and interprets this signal as pain. One of the main molecules which is probably involved is serotonin. Evidence for this theory comes from the fact that tension headaches may be successfully treated with certain antidepressants. Another theory says that the main cause for tension type headaches and migraine is teeth clenching which causes a chronic contraction of the temporalis muscle.

What causes Migraine Headaches: Migraines can be caused by one or a variety of triggers, including environmental or food etc. Here is just a partial list of Migraine Causes. Physical triggers: Over exertion or exhaustion, Changes in sleep patterns or routines. Environmental triggers: Strong smells, Smoky atmospheres. Psychological triggers: Emotional problems, Excitement. Food triggers: Alcohol, (especially red whine), Caffeine, Chocolate.
